Heavy rainfall swept across Murree and parts of the Galiyat region on Friday, causing streams and drainage channels to overflow and creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, overflowing streams have pushed water onto several roads, while parts of the Murree Expressway have experienced water accumulation. Authorities have urged tourists to postpone unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.

Officials said strong flows of water descending from surrounding hills have started reaching roads in some areas, increasing the risk for motorists. They also warned that continued intense rainfall could lead to a cloudburst, which may trigger sudden flash flooding in mountainous areas.

The ongoing rain has also increased the possibility of landslides and falling rocks along hill roads. Residents and visitors have been advised to remain alert and avoid routes that are vulnerable to slope failures.

Police have requested tourists to remain in safe locations and avoid travelling on mountain roads during periods of heavy rainfall. Wet road surfaces, reduced visibility, and the threat of falling debris can make driving particularly dangerous.

District Police and Traffic Police teams are currently deployed across Murree to guide motorists, monitor road conditions, and assist visitors where required.

Authorities have again reminded the public to stay cautious because of the continuing threat of landslides and falling rocks. Anyone facing an emergency has been advised to contact the Police Emergency Helpline by calling 15.
